I'm thinking of going on birth control. In fact I'm almost 100 percent sure I'm going to go to the doctor in a week or so. Anyway I had a few simple questions first. I'm going to Hawaii this summer on July 28th, and my period is due to start (luckily) July 28th! So if I go on birth control after my next period, would I be able to skip my period for when I'm in Hawaii, because that would be a hassle.
Also, what are the side effects after you first start taking the pills. Mainly, I'm concerned about spotting or irregularities.
Also, last question, when will the pills start working (as in, when will I be able to have sex with my boyfriend and not use a condom). Will I have to wait a month, a week, until after my next period???
I would appreciate any help/advice/suggestions for those of you who have went on birth control pills!! Thanks!!!Birth control -- side effects and a way to skip period and when will it start working?
It all depends on which pill you take, but generally, you have to use another method of birth control for a week after you begin the pills. As for skipping your period, you can do it by starting a new pill pack right away, don't take the placebo pills, just continue on with the active pills. It is safe to do if you only do it every once in a while. Spotting can occur if you are not consistent with remembering to take the pill, but usually you won't have spotting if you take your pill at the same time every day.
