plus, how much is it if I cant get it covered by insurance if my parents dont know I am taking itI'm 18 years old and I want to be put on birth control. How do I get it without my parents knowing?
it's better to let your parents know and take the grief from them then wind up being pregnant.
They would be kind of shocked but also relieved by knowing you are wanting to be responsible and safe.I'm 18 years old and I want to be put on birth control. How do I get it without my parents knowing?
Find a planned parenthood. They usually require you to have a job. They have different pay plans. You will probably have to pay about $14 for each pack. If you have a job and you go there, bring a couple of check stubs if you have them. They usually ask for them but if you don't have any its okay. Also they keep everything private. They wont call you phone or send anything to your address unless you give them permission. On your first visit you will have to pay for the exam that they do it doesn't cost very much like $20 at the most. You could go to a doctor but it will probably cost a little more. If you are on your parents insurance then it will show up on their bills.
When I was 18 I marched straight into the gyno's office and used my parent's insurance to pay to get birth control (because it was a lot cheaper). I don't know how much it is without insurance, but it is not cheap. My parent's don't get a medical insurance bill, and I paid with cash so that it didn't show up on my credit or debit statement.
Also the gyno's are held by law to not release patient's information to ANYONE except the patient if they are over 18. And since you are of legal age, you don't have to worry about the gyno asking to talk to your parents.
It's not that hard. At least for me.
Your parents don't need to know. You're legally an adult and you nor your doctor legally have to tell them. It's actually illegal for the doctor to discuss it with your parents unless you give him permission.
You could, however, try Planned Parenthood or ask your doctor for some samples. Let him know you don'thave insurance right now. Most doctors are more than willing to offer a few months of samples. Good luck.
Above all maybe you should talk to your parents about. You are 18 and you are an adult. But if you wanna go around about it you can also check out those teen prenancy places. All you do is go in there and tell them you want to get the morning after pill. Then you just fill out some papers and then you wait a few minutes and there call you in the back. They will give you the chat and ask you questions. But all in all you get what u need. And your parents wont find out. And there is no cost at the Pregnancy centers either.
Go to planned parenthood. You are an adult now and taking responsibility for your life. Also check for Clinics in your area. As far as your parents insurance, ask to go for a GYN visit and while there ask for a prescription, you are an adult so it would be confidential.
The cheapest way is to go to the public clinic in your city..maybe the doc will prescribe, but you still need $ to pay for it.
Please don't forget that the pill does nor protect you from AIDS, HERPES, SYPHYLLIS or a bunch of other horrible infections you can get thru sexual contact.
Ask your gynecologist. Since you're 18, your parents can't access your medical records.
If you go through your insurance, your parents might get an Explanation of Benefits in the mail which would show that you saw the doctor, but not what you saw the doctor for.
if you r 18 then you dont have to have a parental figure to get that. it 's completely confidential now that you r an adult. even if your dr is a pediatrician , or you can go to the health dept
your are legally an adult and can go to a real doctor without your parents consent for anything. So you don't have to tell your parents or get their permission for birth control .
I'd try Planned Parenthood. They're really good with stuff like that. Im not sure of the cost, but Im sure it's affordable. They're there to help teens, and they'll do their best for you.
you can go to any tip clinic and it will go by what you make *if you work* and they can't call your parents its against the law
talk to your doctor and ask for confidentiality. then it's illegal for them to tell your parents.
