How long did it take you to get pregnant after taking the pill?On birth control for 5 years to regulate periods. How long will it take to get pregnant after taking the pill?
I had a history of irregular cycles...(I would go six months or more without getting them!)....I took progesterone each month in hopes of regulating them...and after a year or so I started getting them every month and a half or so. I got married and went on the pill....I was on it for two years and just went off it this past December.
I didn't get my period so I thought...';Yeah, maybe I'm pregnant!'; By the end of February I still didn't have a period and I had taken two or three pregnancy tests and they came up negative. =(
I finally went to the doctor in the end of February and he ran some blood tests. My hormones were a little off since I hadn't ovulated. He put me on Prometrium to jump start my period again....it worked like a charm! I got my period on a beautiful 29 day cycle the next month. I was afraid that the pill really messed my body up again.
After going off the pill and researching things...I found out that the pill doesn't regulate your cycles long term...it's just a temporary fix. I read that if your cycles were irregular before going on....your cycles will return that way when going off. (That freaked me out...no one ever told me that=(.
You may be lucky and get your period the next month....(or even pregnant!!) but, don't be completely surprised if your body doesn't continue in a normal cycle. They say it takes a good three months for your body to get the BC out of your system.
For me...Prometrium did the trick...(the natural progesterone...you take for about ten days and that starts up your period once you get off.) I went off the pill in December....and did end up getting pregnant on my second cycle on my own...=) April 30th I got a positive HPT and called the doctor right away. Because of my history of irregular cycles my doctor had me go in for blood tests right away. My progesterone levels were very low...(you need progesterone to sustain a pregnancy). I'm now 11 weeks!! =) And...I've been having to go in for progesterone injections twice a week...since I first found out...and I take Prometrium every night.
A few things that really helped me: I started charting my BBT temperature. I picked up a Basil Body thermometer at Wal-mart and took my temperature every morning. Your temperature be low before ovulation and spike after ovulation. (That's how I knew I was actually ovulating my first cycle off Prometrium!!) Very exciting=) It's easy and cheap.
Also keep and eye on cervical mucas...(stuff I just recently learned about...and it helps a ton!) The stretchy stuff is there only around the time of ovulation. This is how I knew that I was actually ovulating and we knew when to time things.
I hope for you...that your cycle will get back on track right away. Don't be distressed if it doesn't. Just see a doctor if you have any issues. My doctor thought that I had PCOS....my period ended up coming...so I'm not sure if that's an issue for me or not???
Good luck! And I hope this helps!!

prb fast.my wife was pg with in 2 weeks from stopping the pill
not long, you can even get pregnant on the pill
I got pregnant while on the pill. I took it for about 3yrs. and ended up pregnant. I guess my body got used to the dosage or something. My doc. always told me if I wanted to get off of them it could take anywhere from 1 month to 3 months for it to leave ur system and get pregnant again. I guess it just depends on ur body. Ask ur doc for more information.
