How common is it for your fertility to ';bounce back'; after being on birth control for 3+ years?

I've always read that there would be a delay after discontinuing use of the pill. Are temporary infertility issues after BC true or just a big myth? Anyone got any personal experiences with it?How common is it for your fertility to ';bounce back'; after being on birth control for 3+ years?
I was on the pill for 5 years, went off it in December of last year, and got pregnant in June (I am 5 months along). Considering I have only one fallopian tube (one was removed years ago due to an ovarian cyst) and only can conceive every other month, it really didn't take too long for me to conceive.

My good friend just had a baby last month, and she got pregnant during the month that she stopped taking the pill (after being on it for 10 years). I've heard that the pill ';preserves'; your fertility, and also that you can have an especially fertile month right after you go off the pill. Who knows...???

Good luck! How common is it for your fertility to ';bounce back'; after being on birth control for 3+ years?
It will kind of depend on the person. Check with an infertility specialist in your area if you are having any issues:

The delay is usually because it can be tough to predict ovulation, not because the pill somehow has a lingering effect on fertility; it doesn't.

Some women get pregnant after skipping a single pill, or after not taking pills at the same time each day. It doesn't hang around in your system indefinitely.

But the artificial cycle that the pill provides can mask fertility issues that already exist.

I will tell you that I took the pill for 12 years, and conceived in my first month off. And the same thing happened again two years later.

Good luck.
Very common...there could be a delay, but you could very well get pregnant the first month off also.
i was on the pill for like 5 years, and I have been ttc for 2 months now. No luck yet, but when my sister stopped it took her 3 months. Everyone is different
