Is it really advisable to buy a new car equipped with electronic stability control?

would it really make a big difference safety wise if you buy a car with esc? would you suggest that i get one if im planning to buy an suvIs it really advisable to buy a new car equipped with electronic stability control?
Absolutely get ESC! My wife's new car has it, and it is amazing how well it works, especially in slick conditions. This technology is being heralded as the biggest life-saving invention since the advent of the safety belt: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/1鈥?/a>

I wouldn't buy a vehicle - especially an SUV - without ESC.Is it really advisable to buy a new car equipped with electronic stability control?
sure its for people who have no real driving skill. Those who need help to keep it on the road and do not slow down for rain or road hazards.
ATTENTION ALL DRIVERS:

FANCY ELECTRONIC DOODADS DO NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF PROPER DRIVING EXPERIENCE!

KNOWING YOUR CAR'S ABILITIES AND LIMITATIONS IS THE BEST WAY TO AVOID ACCIDENTS!

THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE ON ANY VEHICLE IS BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S EARS!

Get the point?
Yes, it will make a difference. But the best bet is the driver himself and his thinking.

Like drivers driving cars with ABS, tend to think that their car is safe now and the car will manage itself to avoid the accident by braking in the shortest length possible. What they don't understand is that ABS is for stability (to avoid loss of control) during braking %26amp; not for the quickest braking.

Similarly, ESC or ESP is to control the Yaw, Pitch %26amp; Roll. The vehicle will adjust itself automatically under abnormal driving situations like sudden braking or sudden swivel or sudden negotiation of a curve (when a vehicle may behave Oversteer or Understeer under different loading conditions), so that the driver has a firm control over the vehicle under those situations, without loosing his firm seating %26amp; balance.

But its like a paratrooper who is equipped with a parachute and is too confident that he will open it a little bit later...let the ground come a bit more nearer. Like an over confident guy. Over confidence kills. So is with these technologies. If one uses within the limits, with a smart mind then these technologies are a boon, otherwise a curse. If a driver thinks that his car is the safest with these technologies and drives like a mad person, no body can save him, not even these technologies.
Yes. One time I was commuting to work and had a guy pass on a blind corner in front of me in my lane. I dove for the edge of the road, luckily there was room to, I don't know how he missed me, but lucky for me I have quick reflexes. I nearly lost control of my car because they aren't made for diving to the side like that. But with stability control, I wouldn't have had to worry. I have been eyeballing the new Saturn Aura for this reason. It has it. I would make sure my vehicle had it if I bought new, cause you never know what some nut will do!
Well since none of our political leaders had the testicular fortitude to make the death machines called SUV's illegal, I guess the next best choice would be to develop and install an electro-mechanical system to keep the injury and death rates within reason.

So yeah If you really insist on buying an SUV, do what you need to do to keep the beast safe -sort of
Of course, go ahead.

Even if you're buying a car to drift or drag-race, please get one with ESC (Bosch calls it ESP - Electronic Stability Program). Your life is more important than spending extra quids for the extra feature.
