Is it safe for a 36 year old to use birth control pills?

Or are those better used by those in their teens or 20's? I do not smoke.

If not, what birth control would you suggest for a married, monogamous woman? Is it safe for a 36 year old to use birth control pills?
It's safe. They only say that after 35, if you smoke, your chances of cancer go up.

But you don't smoke, so don't sweat it.

I suggest taking them and if you aren't comfy with them, go talk to your doctor.

Good luck :)Is it safe for a 36 year old to use birth control pills?
i think i would avoid it if it was me.it is prb up to the person how they feel about it.there is the diafram, iud,i used encare ovals suppositories.but there is a 10 min waiting time for them to melt before sex.might ask you doctor or heath unit for some good tips.
it's safe, but after age 35 the risks associated with smoking and being on the pill are greatly increased.
Compare it to the patch

I think both are relatively safe as long as you do not smoke or have other health problems
Of course! I would suggest asking your doctor what BC would work better for you. Everyone is different so this might vary. Personally, the Nuvaring works best for me. It is a vaginial insert (totally comfortable-you or your husband will never know it's there) contraceptive. It is on time release; this ensures a more even distribution of hormones, and you don't have to remember to take a pill every day!

Good Luck!

Why is it so commonly believed by americans that large corporations control our government?

and if so many people feel this way, why is the status quo looking like its going to get worst ..not better? Why is it so commonly believed by americans that large corporations control our government?
While I think the tendency is greatly exaggerated, I do think we have a problem with politicians being bought. First in the absolutely illegal way with bribes, but also with campaign funding.

Large Corperations %26amp; rich people have an undue influence over our politicians, but they don't absolutely control our government. Why is it so commonly believed by americans that large corporations control our government?
Because that's the way it is, and people are to set in their ways,

and so unable to see anybody other than a Republicrat running things that I don't really know if we can pull out of this nosedive in time, if ever.
Large corporations do control much of what the government does. The control that they use is money contributed to elected officials with the understanding that those officials will produce legislation that is favorable to those corporations.

This is one of the factors that candidates such as Edwards and Obama have promised to try and do away with. This is one reason that there are so many legislative earmarks attached to bills in Congress that cost so much money that favor only a few of the people.
Reading is required to understand the big picture, fortunately some of us still do that.

';Corporations determine far more

than any other institution the

air we breath, the quality of the

water we drink, even where we live.

Yet they are not accountable to anyone.';

http://www.mega.nu:8080/ampp/corporate2.鈥?/a>
Not that many Americans believe that, it just seems that way because all the ones who believe that talk about it all the time.
It is exactly like that, that's why we have high prices, there are no regulations on corporations any more so the sell as high as the market wil bear.

30 Years ago A new car costs $3000-3500. The a guy named Reagan came in stripped away all government regulations and now a car that still costs around $11,000. to build will cost you over $35,000.00!

This is profiteering and when Corporations have the upper hand over government you are creating a facist system.

Our lawmakers are making huge fortunes off the corporations so they don't care, but us the 297 million americans that are not worth a million dollars have to pay the price!

The book below outlines these very problems and how to resolve them...
Because it is true. For example the insurance companies lobby the legislators to pass law requiring all driver manadory car insurance. Insurance company tighten pricing after the law is passed, so that compatition is a joke.

Then the Insurance company like Geico donate around $24,000,000.00 a year of free radar equipment to police dept, why because they knoe if you or I get a speeding ticket our insurance will go up 29% for the next three years. So, you tell me , who's being set up!
It is true.

The corruporations have hi-jacked the GOVT and enslaved the masses.

Laws have be passes to legalize stealing by corruporations. It is all about money,
Delphi! The Oracle. Pythia. Spot on!
because it's true. they wrote our energy laws, our drug laws, etc.
By living, working, shopping, listening. It is sadly evident. At the moment it is status quo. But it won't be this way forever.

Is it wrong to put 17 yr old birth control?

I recently discovered my daughter had been sexually active. I put her on the pill. I kind of feel like I'm giving her permission even though I made it clear I am not. I also told her if she did to still use condom to protect her from STD's.Is it wrong to put 17 yr old birth control?
It was a smart move. You aren't giving her permission if she was already sexually active. She will have sex whether or not you put her on birth control. What you have done is EDUCATE her on her option to use birth control and help protect herself rather then relying on the guy to keep her protected. I would do the same for my daughter. Is it wrong to put 17 yr old birth control?
It was wise, your daughter is a young woman at 17 not a child and will be very soon 18. Although you can not really PUT her on the pill, that is a figure of speach, it is her choice as a woman to go on it or not. She does not need your permission to have sex or obtain the pill, but understanding as a human she is a sexual being will help your relationship with her in the years to come.
Kids as young as 12 are on birth control now a days so at seventeen, it's definitely a safe option. I think it's good that you are supporting her in her adolescent years instead of screaming, ';No! You can't have sex!'; Negotiation is definitely more effective than not doing so and you will have a better relationship with your daughter. :)
You aren't giving her permission you are just doing the responsible thing in teaching your daughter that if she is going to make the decision to have sex then she should be protected. You also want to make sure she understands that some STD's like herpes can spread even with a condom especially during outbreak and that even with BC and protection pregnancy may occur.
My mom let me go on the pill when I was 17 because I told her I was having sex with my boyfriend. She told me to respect myself and use a condom, so I did. I never felt like the pill gave me permission to be a whore, but I respected my mom a lot more for understanding and letting me get it. I'd already decided to have sex, so being on the pill just made it safer for me.

So no, I don't think it's wrong at all.
I think that you made the right choice. The thing is, you really can't control whether or not your children have sex because you obviously can't be around them 24/7. However, you can do your best to stop them from having children out of wedlock by educating them about contraceptives. At least now, your daughter is less likely to get pregnant at a young age.
Heya

Your totally right in putting her on birth control. The advice you gave her was also very good. 17 years old is not to young to put on birth control. Im 17 and pregnant (found out when i was 16) and im sure you as a mam would be much happy her taking a pill a day than having to wake up to a screaming baby every day. =] xxx
You're taking the right steps to keep her safe.

Unfortunately, however, it is probably something you will have to persist on doing because most likely she has already made up her mind about becoming sexually active. Most of the time when teens make a decision like that it's not easy to change..especially from parents.
I would think it might be a good idea to do a mother/daughter night out. Try to do this at least once a month. Of course you'll be bonding over shopping and dinner and maybe a movie but you also need to make sure she has some condoms (if she's already having sex then make sure she's got condoms and using them) Also maybe you'll be talking a lot so you can help her through any feelings she's having because at that age boys break up with girls and girls get mad at boys and things get messy very fast. Share your dating stories and such. Good Luck~~~
I'm 17 (not sexually active). I actually think you did the right thing, because regardless as to what you tell her shes going to have sex... Yeah it makes it slightly easier for her to get away with it now but this way it adds more protection. She was having sex before you put her on birth control.. you can at least somewhat rest easy knowing there is a lesser chance of her becoming pregnant.
No, that is not wrong at all! That is a really really good. If she was already sexually active, it seems like she didn't need your permission. As long as she continues to use condoms she should be totally fine. You are just doing your job as a mom and protecting your child as best you can.
i duno because the birhtcontrol pill can be dangerous too.. thats a hard one if she is being active .. i was active at that age and never got pregnant and never took birth control or worried about condoms.. but i always had one steady boyfriend soo i guess there is less of a chance. you just have to make sure she only does it with one person and not everyone. if shes sleeping around then yes the bc is a good idea and yes she does need condoms so u did do the right thing.
Well is not a good age to begin sexual activity, but is good that she knows how to protect herself because of the sexual diseases, so keep an eye on her and tell her that you love her and you only wants the best for her. Get closer to your daughter so that she can trust you.
yeah you are giving her permission and are saying ';i dont care if you have sex as long as you dont get pregnant';

we both know that the above statement is not truel. no parent likes to find out their child (expecially daughters) is sexually active.

so i would take her off the pill and tell her where you stand
No...I don't think that it's wrong at all. I started the birth control pill when I was 14, but I was never sexually active.

You're just trying to protect your daughter...but remember, there is only so much control that you have over her...she's growing up now and you can't force her to take a pill.
You did the right thing.I was young had my son at 17.Not to scare you.But just be honest with your daughter tell her you are not encouraging her but let her know how to be safe. Lets face it if a teen wants to do something they will do with or without your permission.Dont judge just be there and make her feel she can come to you. Believe me it sucks when you are young and cant turn to your parents for help.
no you are a good mom for that, honestly. more moms should start doing that, you did give her permission and it's better this way for your peace of mind and her own. as long as she knows right from wrong you guys will be alright. don't listen to people telling you that you are wrong, most teens are on birthcontrol anyway their parents just dont know about it.
yes its ok. actually its the best thing you can do for your daughter. she will just rebel against you if you ground her or tell her to stop...putting her on the pill keeps her safe and making sure she has condoms helps as well.

Schools these days just try to teach us to practice abstinence and try to scare us into it by telling us we'll get AIDS and stds. it doesn't work trust me. in fact, it probably increases teen sex. nothing is more popular to a teenager than something that is against the rules...to a certain degree.
You did the right thing. She would do it anyway without your permission, obviously, so try and protect her from her own decisions as long as you can.

At least you are not in denial about the whole thing.
you did the right thing, i mean i have been on it since around 15, and really for me it was for my periods, but my mom never let me stop taking it because she always wanted me to atleast have that at a minimum.
No! Wouldn't you much rather her have protected sex than you become a grandmother right now?? She's going to have sex whether you condone it or not, so you are doing what you can to protect her. :o)
You are not 'giving her permission.' YOu are accepting that she has made her own decision, and helping reduce the risks of bad outcomes.
You did the right thing, you can help her make the right choices but you cant make them for her :)
It's absolutely not wrong. It's really responsible and mature. A lot of parents would ignore it.
I think it's extremely smart. It's not like if you kept birth control away from her she wouldn't have sex. You are protecting your daughter and I think you're a good mother for doing that!
your not giving her permission your helping her to be safe, really stress to use condoms too
its the right thing...i`m 15 and i`m on the pill but i hope she considers the consequences and has a plan if she goes and gets pregnant!!!!
I think you did the right thing, it's at least the responsible thing to do since she can't get it herself being underage. I wish more parents were like you!
it is better to be safe than sorry. She is still your child and regardless of anything you are legally responsible for her actions.
You did the right thing. Better a daughter on the pill than a grandchild in the house!!!!!!!
Nothing is wrong with that you are protecting her from what could happen, my mom put me on right when i turned 16.

Is it normal to have a continuous period on the first month of birth control?

I'm taking birth control (Kelnor) for the first time. I started when my period started. My period has lasted 10 days so far. Is this normal? The bleeding is continuous. It's not really breakout bleeding. Will I have a continuous period during my first month of birth control. Has this happened to anyone? Is it normal to have a continuous period on the first month of birth control?
I took Kelnor. The bleeding is probably just a normal side-effect because your body is getting used to the hormone differences. If you continue to bleed, I would visit your gyno. You should NOT have a continuous period during your first month. If you do, definitely call your doctor for advice. Is it normal to have a continuous period on the first month of birth control?
Im on the shot an what happens with mine is you have irregular periods for about a 3 months and then you dont have periods..

yes i think its normal kuz it is messing with your horomones but its always best to ask a doc

  • Is it true that with age, men learn to control their urges better?

Would a 35 yr old married man, have very controled responses to stimulii?

How can these men suddenly not get turned on with external stimuli like seductive chat, or glances? Is it true that with age, men learn to control their urges better?
It is called hormones. Is it true that with age, men learn to control their urges better?
Yes it's true that men can control their stimulii the older they get. Some men see it as being in control, and some men see it as potentially, not being able to perform when they should. So in other words, they might think they need products like viagra.

Some of the single men lose it because they aren't being approached by the right females.

A good place for men to learn how to be seductive is a website called Pro Seduction Training. It has everything there. You can check it out. Nothing to lose right? It's definately helped me out

    http://www.proseductiontraining.com
At 35 or even older a man has exspirence as a guide and can control themselves too a degree!

Alot of it I would say depends on if your devoted and committed too your wife? I am 42 and m ost of the time I can see a pretty woman or even a sexy woman and it never stimultes me sexually or other wise! I admitt, there are a few occassion's were a women simply in a store or restraunt catches my eye and its as if its a connection or attractive.. Over all, if your marriage is sound and good and you already know your-own limitation's and boundaries and thats why other women don'y simply push or turn you on...
Yes, with age comes control in that scenario. Hormones are no no longer raging.
Stop having the seductive chat. Guys are guys.

Is it safe to take birth control pills and ginko biloba at the same time?

check with your doctor. Is it safe to take birth control pills and ginko biloba at the same time?
ask your doctorIs it safe to take birth control pills and ginko biloba at the same time?
Ginko biloba reacts with practically all medication taken. There is no reason to believe BC'S are any different.

How long does it take for a woman to become pregnant while still on birth control?

I have been told that it could take as long as it would for a woman who is not on birth control but I just wanted to know the difference for one who is on the pill. How long does it take for a woman to become pregnant while still on birth control?
Birth control is meant to prevent pregnancy so who knows how long it would take. How long does it take for a woman to become pregnant while still on birth control?
Everyone is different. I was on the Depo shot for about nine years before i came off it. And it took almost a year for me to get pregnant again. But thats because i had to jump start everything all over again. So it matters how long someone is on birth control and what kind. But now i won't stay on a birth control over 5 years.
She shouldnt get pregnant if she is ON birth control, but it can take up to a year after she goes off to conceive, if thats what you mean? have fun though. ; )
the pill is about 97% effective on blocking pregnancy and aborting early if a pregnancy starts to take place according to studies. The chances of getting pregnant on birthcontrol are more slim compared to not on BC but it is still possible to get pregnant yes while on BC.
depends on if you take them regualarly and how long you have been taking it. but, it's a bad idea to get pregnant on purpose when taking birth control because it can seriously hurt the baby.
I was on birth control for 3 years doing it with no protection and never got pregnant. Then after I went of my birth control it toke me 2 months to get pregnant. Everyone is different but birth control is supossed to prevent you from getting pregnant so what you were told is not true. Yes you can get pregnant when your on birth control but not as likely as if you were of.
? Never know,my mom got pregnant on birth control
    There is strong evidence that the Pill does not always prevent ovulation. This means that break-through ovulation occurs. For people that are on the combination pills, the rate of break-through ovulation ranges from 1.7% to 28.6% per cycle. For people that are on progesterone only pills, break through ovulation occurs from 33% to 65% of the time. ';Breakthrough ovulation happens even among those who never miss a pill.';

Breakthrough ovulation happens a lot, but if you read below you can see how the pill works, and see why it is considered 99.9% effective.

The Pill's first and primary mechanism is to inhibit ovulation. This is what most Birth Control companies say that their pill does, without mentioning the other ';backup'; mechanisms. The second mechanism is the thickening of the cervical mucus which makes it more difficult for sperm to travel to the egg. The third mechanism is where ethical decisions must take place. This mechanism thins and shrivels the lining of the uterus to the point that it is unable or less able to facilitate the implantation of the newly-fertilized egg. Since life begins at conception, this third mechanism is an abortifacient.

So that is why it is considered 99.9% effective.... because if the first mechanism doesn't work, then it goes to the second, and then if creates a hostile environment for the baby and just aborts it.
To my knowledge, birth control pills are taken to prevent pregnancy; and, as long as a woman is taking the ';pill';, the chances of her ever becoming pregnant are slim to none. You need to talk to a physician.
Ideally, you dont want to get pregnant on birth control, because this may result in birth defects of the baby. If you want to get pregnant, stop the birth control. If you dont, use a back up method.
really depends on how long shes been on it. I was on it for 7 years and it took me two years to get pregnant. The body had to get used to not having the birth control and on a regular schedule as far as periods and stuff go. There are also things you can do like having sex during the time of ovulation that help to get pregnant instead of just having sex everyday. it could also happen right after she stops taking it. Some women miss one pill and get pregnant. It depends on how long shes been taking it and her really.
as long as she is having sex...it could happene as soon as the act is over...being on the pill does not make a person not get pregnant
some ladies get pregnant the first month others take longer
With me it took it to leave my system completely I would say it took close to a year before I got preggo.

How long does it take for your body to get used to being off birth control?

I have been on and off birth control for 13 years now, and I am wanting to get off of it again but I can not remember how long it took for my body to get back on tract. What is the normal time frame? I am wanting to get pregnant also how long could it take for me to concieve? I am 29 and wanting to start a family. How long does it take for your body to get used to being off birth control?
I went through the same thing about a year ago. After being on various strength pills for 13 years, my husband %26amp; I decided it was time to start a family. My midwife told me that it could take up to a year to start ovulating normally.

A friend recommended the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler, which explains charting fertility signs to be able to tell when you are ovulating.

Twenty days after going off the pill I ovulated for the first time, and had 3 regular cycles that lasted about 32 days before getting pregnant.

Everyones body is different %26amp; reacts to the hormones in different ways, but if you chart your temps %26amp; fertility signs you will be able to have an informed conversation with your OB/GYN about your fertility %26amp; starting a family. It will also give you all of the information you need for when to have sex with the best chance of getting pregnant.

Happy baby making! How long does it take for your body to get used to being off birth control?
From my own experience with BC, you can get pregnant pretty much immediately after you stop taking the pill. However, I think doctors recommend you be off it for a few months before conceiving.
You can use ovulation calendar like

    http://www.softorbits.com/awc/

to find the best date to conceive a baby.
it took me within a month i got pregnant pretty guick it shocked me but everybody's body is different I have known it to take 3 months even 6 good luck
everyone is different for me it took 3 months but some ppl have got pregnant after a month, doesnt reallt matter how long you have been on it b4, some docs say wait for 3 months or so but it doesnt really matter

Is it safe to have unprotected sex everyday while on birth control?

my wife is on the pill and takes it every day at the same time. and we have unprotected sex a few times every day. dose that lower the chances or is their still a 99% chance you wont get pregnant. Is it safe to have unprotected sex everyday while on birth control?
Women get pregnant on that thing all the time. It isn't 99% effective or less women would be getting pregnant. From what I've seen I'd say it's only 70% effective. Is it safe to have unprotected sex everyday while on birth control?
the pill stops a women from releasing an egg...

if you ejactulate once.. and then again, the chances of the second bunch of sperm finding the egg is just as low as the first bunch finding the egg.

I've been on the pill for 5 years and have very regular unprotected sex and still.. no baby :)
does what lower the chance? there is still a small chance she will get pregnant if you are unprotected. and the more you do it, the bigger the chance.
    yes
wow and your an adult asking that?

Is it necessary to get a pelvic exam when seeing a doctor about birth control pills?

No. The doctor cannot force you to do anything you don't want to do. They will ask you why you want them (ex. regulate periods, or sexually active) and if you have had multiple partners it is strongly suggested that you have an exam. This is because whether or not your partners claim to be STD free, they may not know that they have one or are just flat out lying often times. Having STDs leads to cervical cancer, which cannot be detected other than through a pelvic exam. This cancer spreads quickly and is deadly. Please consider having an exam if you are sexually active and are able.Is it necessary to get a pelvic exam when seeing a doctor about birth control pills?
You will have to ask your individual doctor what he/she does. They are all different. People say you can get pills and refuse to have an exam, but remember a doctor can refuse to give you pills also. Why would you not want the exam? It could save your life!

If you are too modest to have the examination, you are too young to be having sex. Modesty goes with innocence. Sex brings a need for responsibility with it.Is it necessary to get a pelvic exam when seeing a doctor about birth control pills?
Yes it is necessary. They check to see your cervix, any discharge etc. And often check your hormone levels. Birth control pills can be a wonderful thing, but can also cause problems. It is important to get a pelvic exam. Of course, they cant FORCE YOU. But you should get it for yourself. I dont think my gynogologist would give birth control pills without doing a pelvic exam. If anything God forbid happens, he's responsible.
Yeah, i'm going through the same thing as you. If you're seeking out birth control for the purpose of, y'know, birth control, you need to get checked out. It's not appropriate for doctors to prescribe medications without giving you a check-up. There's nothing to worry about, having your body checked up on is good if you want to maintain your reproductive and sexual health.
I got birth control and they said that I dont have to get any exams until about two years after i start having sex. Soooo two years after you start to get it on, they might make you! At least thats what they 'recommend'
depends, if its a new doc, then yes, or if you havent had an exam for a while, this is just to check for any abnormalities, etc.
Only if you already started having sex if not no there are other circumstances but other than that I'm pretty sure no.
    yep it is
    yea

  • Why is it taboo to say that many women are irresponsible about birth control?

Sex selective abortion is wrong, but abortion because a woman didn't use reliable birth control is okay? I know that there is no form of birth control that is 100% reliable, but birth control is effective enough to prevent most accidental pregnancies, and therefore prevent most abortions. Why is sex selective abortion so wrong when abortion because a woman didn't use reliable birth control is okay? Why should the reasons for abortion matter, when they all lead to the termination of the fetus? Why is it taboo to say that many women do not use reliable birth control properly and responsibly? Yes, many men are also irresponsible about birth control, but men do not have a range of birth control options available to them, including abortion. Why is it taboo to say that many women are irresponsible about birth control?
I had, literally, *the* most awesome answer EVER...then my account said it was suspended and I lost it because when I went to hit submit it logged me out =o/

    In short: I'm pro-choice, not pro-stupidity.

The chances of anyone using birth control properly needing more than one abortion in a lifetime are slim to none.

Rape/sincere lack of sex education aside. Which is a small percentage (I believe) of those getting abortions.

I'll never support the choice to be stupid. Irresponsible is putting it lightly, they oughta thank you for giving them that courtesy. I'm less diplomatic about it o_OWhy is it taboo to say that many women are irresponsible about birth control?
Considering that they give reasons like, ';What's the use of giving birth if the child is going to be abused anyway?';, or ';What's the use of giving birth if the mother isn't ready';, I will say I will have to agree with you. The mother in question may not be ready to take care of a selective sex, it may end up abusing it, so sex-selective abortion is not wrong, if abortion is not wrong.

Further they also say how not all women would have abortion if it is legalized(which it is), I will go on to say that not all women would have sex-selective abortion if it is legalized.
    It isn't.

You've just said it, were you arrested?

Yes, if a woman becomes pregnant, even if she didn't properly use birth control, her body is still her body, her life is still her life.

Why do you think pregnant people should have no rights?

Instead of trying to force all pregnant women to live by YOUR rules, why not fight to have all young people have complete and accurate sex education, and to make birth control easily available for all sexually active people?

That way, we'd avoid most unwanted pregnancies in the first place.

Then there are cases where the woman didn't consent to have sex, and thus didn't use birth control.
It's taboo to blame a woman for anything that happens to her sexually because the male is traditionally seen as being the dominant player.

Women have historically been placed as a near silent partner and admitting that they are not is very difficult for some women as it means taking responsibility for their sexuality and sexual health. When you've been able to blame men for the last 5,000 years it's very hard to stop.
Is it taboo to say that? i would think given the amount of single mothers and the even greater amount of teen pregnancies, it would be a given. And given the fact that men have exactly one form of birth control available to them and condoms have a 20% rate of failure, I would have to surmise that it is therefore primarily the woman's responsibilty to use more effective birth control.

As to the rest of your question I really don't prefer to discuss abortion.
I don't think it is taboo to say that.

However, I think you have to consider the age of the woman and the amount of health education she has received. The plethora of abstinence only programs are creating a generation of young people who are ignorant when it comes to safe and effective methods of birth control. How is a young man to learn how to properly use a condom when his educators are limited to saying, ';don't do it so you won't need it';??

How is a girl supposed to know that pills need to be taken at the same time every day unless there is a qualified medical professional to tell her?
Well because the societal norm is to forget the fact that only women can become pregnant and pretend that men have to be ';equally'; responsible for ';her'; body.

It'd be like a sexually transmitted disease that only affected men. Would women have to take ';equal'; responsibility to ensure the men didn't get the disease?

...Or would men have to make damn sure they were protected.

    Their body... their responsibility.

Women can toss aside their parental responsibility if they so choose. Abort that little thing %26amp; they're back in business.

If they want to keep the baby, they then get to ';share'; responsibility with the man. ...Even if he never wanted parenthood, he's still ';sharing'; the very responsibility that the woman could have EASILY shirked if she felt like it.

So, women really don't have to be responsible with their bodies due to all of the ';escape routes'; they've been given.
i personally think that abortion is wrong and horrible no matter what the consequences. selective sex abortion is disgusting. if you don't want a baby there are measures to take to not having one. i agree that there are so many forms of birth control on the market. there are ways to prevent it and you should take responsibility for your actions. abortions can cause you to be unable to conceive later on in life. the worst that i have heard about abortions wise is women who get pregnant just to see that they can then get an abortion. it's sick and twisted. i will contradict myself slightly by saying that in some cases when there are hideous birth defects that would make living unbearable or something then maybe get an abortion. i am totally anti it and glad that it is illegal here.
A friend of mine got pregnant while using condoms and birthcontroll pills - and she makes sure she takse her pills at the exact same time every day - she has an alarm on her cell phone for that purpose. Its pretty rare but you can get preggers while still being responsible. As for the ppl who get pregnant while being irresponsible with thier contraception methods - why would you want such ppl to be raising a child if they cant even get sex right?! I mean really, birthcontroll is pretty simple, what kind of an idiot doesnt know how to use it properly?! And those types of ppl should be encouraged to raise a child and/or bring a child into the world containing thier stupid genes?
Because having a child should equal unconditional love regardless of what sex the child is. How can it be right to say that a child of one sex has more right to life than that of another - if we did certain religious cultures around the world would be killing off all the female foetus and certain other ideoligies would be advocating mass genocide of male foetus in the western world.

In answer to your headline question to attempt to suggest that a woman actually take full responsibility for her own well being is quite unacceptable today.
It's taboo to criticize women in any way. It's always someone else's fault. Usually men, but when you can't pin on a man, then it's the media. Then it's her father. Then it's her mother. Then it's PMS. Then it's society. Then it's some kind of mental disorder.

Whatever it is... it's not a woman's fault!
It's taboo to critisise women in anyway, especially when men can be blamed instead.

    I challenge you to ask any question ';Why do [*some*, most] women......(something even slightly negative)';

If you manage to do so without Tracey attacking your fragile ego, then I'll eat my hat. (or rather, some candy floss i put on my head)
I didn't know it was taboo. Clearly many women are highly irresponsible about birth control, or there wouldn't be so many abortions. Sex selection cannot account for the enormous number of abortions in western countries, one can only assume that a lot of women nowadays are feckless.
It is NOT taboo. I can see your point.

I agree... I think a lot of women complain about getting pregnant... I mean, why are you having sex anyway when you can't afford a fugging kid?

If you don't want a kid, then use birth control or don't have sex. I know its hard for irresponsible people. ( And men can be irresponsible too... My Daddy dearest has 5 kids, including me... He doesn't talk to any of us. All he wants is sex ).
Having sex with or without birth control is irresponsible if you can't handle the natural result of sex, a child.

    That goes for either gender.

I don't see the difference between sex selection abortion and abortion as a form of birth control.
The guy above ';Voice of Reality'; said it right.

It'll never be a woman's fault, how could it be, they never, ever, ever, do anything wrong, not even when they foolishly pi$$ away their husband's ';hard earned'; money on garbage.
With the availability of birth control, the amount of abortions performed is astronomical. Although it's not 100% affective, it does go a long way toward preventing a lot of unwanted pregnancies.
Its taboo in certain circles to ask women to take responsibility.

The language they use ';he got her pregnant';, ';he should have kept it in his pants';.

She should have at least have known where she was in her cycle.
I believe sex-selection abortion is as wrong as abortion of convenience.

Abortion due to real medical issues for the mother or fetus is an obvious tragedy, but potentially necessary.
Because empowering women somehow doesn't entail taking responsibility; it's about blaming someone else or making excuses for a her faults.
are you trying to question the views of liberals and feminists?

    they'd never allow that.

dissent isn't tolerated in communist based ideologies.
I dont think it's fair to say that women are irresponsible- it is not just the responsibility of the woman!!
I agree with Miss Theo. Besides, women are obviously not ';responsible'; for anything.
It is taboo to criticize women because men are the real problem in society.
I got pregnant on reliable birth control...twice.
People don't like to hear the truth.
Because you're supposed to blame the man !
Is it? Well then you are very daring, aren't you?
Stop making so much sense, lady!
I actually do not think women do get away with being 'irresponsible' about contraception...in fact the opposite is the case women often carry ALL the responsibility for said control. The language of contraception is often single gendered...in the UK it is common to hear that 'girls and women get themselves pregnant' As for this idea that men's birth control range is limited...well, perhaps that is because it is a simpler process to halt! Women are expected to use a chemical in one form or another 24/7 which we are still not 100% sure of all the side effects..my generation suffered a great many health problems with the pill for example...blood clots, embellism etc. As for other methods , the 'coil' implants the list is endless still involves a foreign object in the body!

So, no its not taboo, to ask a woman to take responsibility for her own sexual health, and reproduction, but to suggest that many use abortion as a contraceptive alternative is also too simplistic; erroneous in many cases and dangerous in others.

In the Communist regime in Romania, contraception was banned, along with abortion and compulsory pregnancy checking implemented for women of child bearing age...sounds idyllic!!!!! Many women overburdened with pregnancy, poverty sought illicit termination, and many died...with real social examples like that you want to express what for men's contraceptive options being limited when those available to women have and can be arbitrarily challenged and banned at the behest of those in power?

So, let me see how this works..answer with fact social, medical and political and get thumbs down...was it the abortion thing? All women use abortion as a means of birth control is of course tosh!
Birth control is so widely available and there is a method for everyone. But too many people are irresponsible. Women go on the pill with full knowledge that they have a tendency to forget to take it when they should and expect that it will work everytime. They agree to have sex without a condom and still expect they won't get pregnant. I never understood that. I've always been one to be cautious. Currently, I have an IUD, my partner wears a condom, and he pulls out. Neither one of us wants to take any chances. But we have discussed what would happen if I should get pregnant anyway. He knows he's not ready to be a mother. I refuse to have a child unless I'm in a long-term, committed relationship with a man who wants a child. So in our case, abortion would be the answer to an unwanted pregnancy. I mean, how can it be wrong when I've done everything I possibly could to prevent that pregnancy?

Is it true that STDs are all about mental control?

My friend is always worried about STDs, but I keep telling him if you have the mental toughness you can suppress any infection. As long as you don't let it get into your mind and take a good hot shower afterwards you don't have anything to worry about. Its the people that get tested all the time happen to have all the diseases. He disagrees with me. Who is right? Is it true that STDs are all about mental control?
    Ha ha.

No.Is it true that STDs are all about mental control?
You're not being serious are you?

I've been tested for everything under the sun while pregnant and when I donate blood(testing for STDs is mandatory while pregnant/donating blood in Australia) and I'm 100% clean, always have been.

People that indulge in unsafe sex and don't get tested are the greatest danger to all.
I'm going to agree with your friend. Your approach sounds about as reliable as not using a condom and just chanting ';No baby, no baby, no baby!'; during sex to avoid pregnancy. Good luck feeling the burn when you pee!
LMFAO. That's funny. ';As long as you don't let it get into your mind ... you don't have anything to worry about.'; And then ... you get sick and die. Sorry. There's little mind control involved when it comes to disease, though of course being emotionally and mentally healthy is important to maintaining a healthy body. Here, you might like to read some very basic information on pathogenic organisms: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathogen#_n鈥?/a> .
Ok... this is one of those things that leaves the realm of mind over matter. Kinda like getting shot with a gun. Doesn't matter if you believe bullets can't hurt you. You're going to take some damage. If you're mind is extreme, you may not feel the pain. But, the damage is done.
No, it's not about mental control. It's all about having enough brains to protect yourself in the first place.
No, you are incorrect on this.

    (1) On the point of those who ';get tested all the time';. There is no way to compare those who get tested with those who don't . You would have evidence from a test for someone who WAS tested but how would you have the evidence for those who haven't?

    So, that point is illogical.

    (2) ';Mental control'; isn't exactly what you're referring to here. It appears that you are referring to the mind's ability to heal itself of such diseases as Cancer or other non-communicable illness. It IS possible in theory that a person with a positive mental outlook will have a stronger immune system than those who do not but it is highly irresponsible to preach about one's great mind control as a deterrent against STDs.

STDs are either viral or bacterially based in origin. If you have a cut in your skin and you are exposed to enough of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), then you will most likely become infected. It is a risky gamble to assume that because you have the right mindset that you are protected from infection. Other STDs such as Herpes can be passed by simple skin contact.

    (3) Your friend should be worried about STDs if he is having unprotected sex. There is a simple way of protecting himself. USE A CONDOM. You may be preaching mental control but one should hope that you are protecting your body as well. The last I looked, I haven't seen anyone's ';mind'; passing for a condom.

    (4) ';Taking a good hot shower'; will clean your body of surface bacteria but to believe that simply taking a shower will protect your genitals from viral and bacterial infections is ignorance in the truest sense.

    (5) As for those who get tested often, it is precisely those people who care enough about their bodies to protect and educate themselves. One can have sex - even one night stands - and enjoy this but one doesn't have to die for it or forever have periodic lesions or become infertile because of willful ignorace. And, if you aren't aware - and something tells me that you most likely aren't - Chlamydia most of the time has NO SYMPTOMS. So, at this very moment you could have the bacterial infection, Chlamydia, and because your sexual partners are trusting you and whatever lies you tell them about being ';clean'; or ';free from infection'; they will easily contract the bacteria and since there are no symptoms could have it for years until scar tissue forms on their fallopian tubes and eventually renders their body infertile. All, because someone wanted to remain ignorant to protecting their bodies.

    (6) Your friend is right on this and you could do worse than to take his advice. The bottom line that any health practioner will tell you? USE A CONDOM, get tested everytime you change sexual partners, and communicate with your partners so you are both educated.

If you aren't grown up enough to heed the advice I have written - especially (6) - then you are not mature enough to have sex.

What you have written reads like a teenager's knowledge of sex along the lines of using Coca Cola or Pepsi to prevent pregnancy. Just in case, you believe that too, no, it doesn't prevent pregnancy.
Forget about who's right...you need to get yourself to the clinic...pronto!

If you're lucky, they'll have drugs that will cure whatever you've got.

If you're unlucky, they WON'T have any drugs that will cure whatever you've got.

BTW, syphilis ';gets into your mind';...it turns your brain into swiss cheese, and makes you go crazy.

    See, now THAT'S ironic!

Oh, one more thing...in Thailand, where HIV infects more people than just about anywhere on earth, they believe in the ';hot shower'; method...good luck with that.
He is - because he doesn't have an IQ lower than his SHOE SIZE...

As long as ANYTHING is getting into his BODY (not his MIND), then there is a RISK!!!
if he believes you its going to shock him real bad if he gets aids.
You might be able to suppress the symptoms, but not the diseases themselves. Once it's in your body, only medication will get it out.
I think it's good to have mental balance to aid with any ailment in order to speed or progress with healing, but I think your friend is right.

If you're safe, you're safe. If you're not at times (which I assuming from this question you're not), sometimes not letting it get into you head could be considered denial. Most of the infections are viral and in your bloodstream!

Don't mess around with STD stuff - it can cause infertility later.

Is it in our nature to pick on others because of weaknesses beyond their control?

Haven't you observed all of us do it all the time -very few of us are sensitive enough not to take advantage of any power differences that may allow us to strike at their Achilles heels. For example:

    Someone is poor -

Not looking like he would fight back if attacked-

Not belonging in the ';right'; social circle

    ----

Only if we learn to STOP any urge to pull this power difference everytime, fewer conflicts in the world.

Opinions? Is it in our nature to pick on others because of weaknesses beyond their control?
yea! I vitnessed it so many times and I used to be like that and but I changed dramatically. I stand up for myself now and I defend my friends if someone's picking on them.

The weak can only save themselves!! People WON'T stop discriminating unless people take a stand. Sometimes, it's the weak people's fault because they need to learn from experience and be strong for themselves.

Anyway, sometimes people attack to feel greater and sometimes, they might do it naturally, not knowing- which is still wrong of course. This is like bullying. Is it in our nature to pick on others because of weaknesses beyond their control?
Au contrare, mon ami! I find it's the disadvantaged, uneducated, unlucky people who constantly begin such conflicts. They don't know or understand how to cope with adversity.
Yes it's innate to humans' selfish and insecure nature and we put others down in order to lift ourselves up (standing on someone to be taller).
    Only losers do that.
Surely not natural. It's picked up on the way due to parental influence or bad friendships/company.

It is irrational to think that you can 'step on someone to become taller' or 'push others down to come up'.
I'm not sure about that. I know even thinking back to my own childhood, I never picked on the 'weak' ones. I saw lots of others do it, but I'd tend to befriend the person in question or just be especially nice to them.

Personally, I think it's more of something that people are somehow taught or conditioned to do. If kids see their parents laughing at people and making fun of them, they might tend to do it too, for example. I think it comes from an attitude of being somehow better than that other person, which is false.

I'm not sure what the exact answer is, but I definitely don't believe it's something inborn in people. I think they pick it up along the way by getting an attitude of their own superiority. I also think other things can play into it. For example, I talked about when I was a child never being mean to other kids. None of my older brothers ever were either. We were all pretty compassionate, even as kids. But we were raised to be that way. And even further, our father was an abusive alcoholic, which I think made us more compassionate to others who were suffering I guess.

    Interesting question.

Is it ok if i take prenatal pills while taking birth control?

i want to know because i heard prenatal pills make your hair grow and i wanna use them..

or if there is any other vitamins like that please tell me? Is it ok if i take prenatal pills while taking birth control?
They are just vitamins it is OK to take them wheneverIs it ok if i take prenatal pills while taking birth control?
Prenatal vitamins contain 29mgs of iron - at least.

Which for your normal person, will lead to iron overload, and symptoms of toxicity within a short time.

Go to vitaminshoppe.com and see what they have specifically for hair growth - they are high in b-complex without the unneeded iron.

Is it ok to start trying to conceive right after i stop taking birth control?

iv been on if for 5 years and im 21. Iv heard that your suppose to wait for the linign of the uterus to build up is this true?Is it ok to start trying to conceive right after i stop taking birth control?
Your body readjusts quite well after going off the pill. If you miss two or more, or start a pack late, you're advised to use a back-up method.

But you may want to wait until your period is normal, just to make sure you are all good to have a child. If it continues to be light, you may not have enough lining, so check with a gynecologist first if this is the case.Is it ok to start trying to conceive right after i stop taking birth control?
yes it is, some get pregnant right after quiting. Ive been trying. The first month my period came now Im on the second month and have yet to receive my period. I get like mild cramps every other day for a week and a half then it goes away. Some say you get period like cramps and pregnancy happens. I was on the pill form for 6 years. If you don't conceive right away then your body is probly not ready to concieve yet. Hope this helps.
I very recently went off mine. My gyno told me to wait until I had two normal periods before trying to conceive.

  • Is it absolutely necessary to take a blood test for birth control?

I may start taking birth control, but I'm afraid that I will have to take a blood test. Is it possible to opt out of the blood test? Or is it absolutely required? Is it absolutely necessary to take a blood test for birth control?
There is usually no need for a blood test prior to starting birth control pills.

You don't like needles? Is it absolutely necessary to take a blood test for birth control?
No not compulsory.Taking precaution is very good but it effects the whole system by consuming chemicals which destroy your immune system and cause imbalance in your brain circuits.

Taking a blood sample is good as it shows the changes in your blood chemistry after consuming the birth control pills. It is highly recommended. But you can avoid it completely if you have self control and avoid these drugs which pollute our bodies with chemicals.Just have control over your mind and body and enjoy life the natural way. Wishing you a healthy and a happy Life.
Ask your doctor. I don't think it is a requirement, but it is best to check.

When I first went on the pill in 1993 for PCOS, my doctor did not give me a blood test.
I'm an Australian Reg nurse (family planning) I don't know about the U.S, but here you dont need a blood test. just a general check up, pulse, blood pressure etc.

How long will it take for ONE antibiotic pill to stop interfering with my birth control?

I took just ONE antibiotic pill before my doctor pulled me off of it. How long will it take before my birth control pill is 100% effective again? How long will it take for ONE antibiotic pill to stop interfering with my birth control?
It depends on the antibiotic and the birth control you are on. I'm sorry I cannot be more help without the details.

EDIT: I think you will be fine. How long will it take for ONE antibiotic pill to stop interfering with my birth control?
Unless it was rifampin, I'd say you're fine personally. Most antibiotics don't actually affect birth control and if you only took one that makes it less likely. If you want to play it safe, wait a week (the normal instruction for a whole course).

How can I control my temper and learn to watch what I say before I say it?

I get really upset sometimes and when I do I say things just to piss ppl off. Even if I don't mean it, I say it just to make the other person as mad as I am. I get so mad to the point I want to hit something or somebody. I'll start to get really nervous and shaky and cry. How can I control my anger? How can I control my temper and learn to watch what I say before I say it?
OMG!! i have the EXACT SAME THING! its like i don't (always) intentionally try to piss people off when i am mad, but when i'm mad its like another person! then i yell things and feel bad afterward...im going to get tested for bipolar soon, maybe you should too! also, if im really really really angry, you have to tell yourself to SHAKE IT OFF and its only one little thing to upset you. this requires an enourmous amount of will power, i know, but just give it a try!!

%26lt;3 hope i helped!!How can I control my temper and learn to watch what I say before I say it?
You need to count t o 10 before you respond to things that would normally annoy you.

Remember the shaking and nervousness and ask your self if its really worth it?

Begin in time to ignore the little things and only put up a fight or argument for the things that are REALLY important to you, don't sweat the small stuff cuz its not worth getting high blood pressure over

Ask yourself..'can i just let this one go? because i don't care enough to get upset over it'. if you can count first, then just remove yourself from the situation calmly.

Here are some anger management tips to help get your anger under control:

Take a ';time out.'; Although it may seem cliche, counting to 10 before reacting, or leaving the situation altogether, really can defuse your temper.

Do something physically exerting. Physical activity can provide an outlet for your emotions, especially if you're about to erupt. Go for a brisk walk or a run, swim, lift weights or shoot baskets.

Find ways to calm and soothe yourself. Practice deep-breathing exercises, visualize a relaxing scene, or repeat a calming word or phrase to yourself, such as ';take it easy.'; You can also listen to music, paint, journal or do yoga.

Once you're calm, express your anger as soon as possible so that you aren't left stewing. If you simply can't express your anger in a controlled manner to the person who angered you, try talking to a family member, friend, counselor or another trusted person.

Think carefully before you say anything so that you don't end up saying something you'll regret. Write a script and rehearse it so that you can stick to the issues.

Work with the person who angered you to identify solutions to the situation.

Use ';I'; statements when describing the problem to avoid criticizing or placing blame. For instance, say ';I'm upset you didn't help with the housework this evening,'; instead of, ';You should have helped with the housework.'; To do otherwise will likely upset the other person and escalate tensions.

Don't hold a grudge. Forgive the other person. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to behave exactly as you want.

Use humor to release tensions, such as imagining yourself or the other person in silly situations. Don't use sarcasm, though 鈥?it's just another form of unhealthy expression.

Keep an anger log to identify the kinds of situations that set you off and to monitor your reactions.

Practice relaxation skills. Learning skills to relax and de-stress can also help control your temper when it may flare up.

Is it normal to have a delayed period during your 2nd month of birth control?

Yes. You have to be vigilant about taking your medication or else you may get pregnant.

Is it really rare for a person to be able to control, and change a dream?

I have been able to for a while now. Does anyone know if it's genetic or something? Is it really rare for a person to be able to control, and change a dream?
I'm not sure, but I have the ability to wake myself up, although it's only when I'm having the certain recurring nightmare about zombies (I've been having this dream since I was 9 or 10 when the 2004 remake of Dawn Of The Dead came out). I can actually force myself out of a dead sleep, and I'm just about the heaviest sleeper on the face of this earth. But, I did have this dream when I was about 4 or 5 where I had this remote thingy in my hand, and I was choosing my dream. It was freeeeaaaaaaky. Is it really rare for a person to be able to control, and change a dream?
It really depends on what dream theory you're talking about and to what degree of control, there's Freud's, waking life theory, spiritual ideas, activation synthesis.... their actually really interesting if you look them up, Wikipedia would probably be a good starting place
All a dream is, is your unconscious mind. So if you think in your dream you can change it. But most people can't be at that level. As most don't pay attention to what they dream of.
I wouldn't say rare but I don't know if it has to do wit genetics. But what you're experiencing is called ';Lucid Dreaming';. Many people would die to control their dreams.
yes i think it's rare, i can only change my day dreams (everybody can) but not my dreams when i'm sleeping

Is it Passable for humans to control the galaxy?

How many millennium years will it take for the human race to reach civilization type 5?Is it Passable for humans to control the galaxy?
It's not even possible for humans to control 1 percent of the galaxy. The galaxy is huge.

If civilizations advanced to where they could build spaceships that move at 1/2 the speed of light, which may never happen, and you build thousands of spaceships and loaded them up with people to colonize other parts of the galaxy, it would take well over 200 millenia for all of them to reach their destinations. And then it would take even more millenia to find out what they were doing. There would be effectively no communication across large distances. You'd hear about other parts of the galaxy as ancient history. That wouldn't be control.

If humans are ever going to expand into the galaxy, they will need a better physics than general relativity, because light is pathetically slow as a form of interstellar communication.

Colonists of Rigel Kentaurus could be successful, because it only takes 4 years for light messages to get there. But that's still 8 years for a message to get a reply. If you go to Rigel Kentaurus, you might send this to Earth:

    ';I made it! Rigel Kentaurus!';

Then 8 years later you'd hear:

    ';Congratulations! what's Rigel Kentaurus like?';

But there would be no point replying because during that 8 years you would already have sent back all kinds of reports. And if there was any trouble, you'd have to say

    ';Help, we're running out of supplies';

then wait 8 years to get the message

    ';don't worry, supplies are on the way';

and another 8 years for the supplies to get there.

At that point, you'd already be reaching old age. Colonizing the galaxy isn't as fun as people think. Is it Passable for humans to control the galaxy?
We are unable to control a piddling cyclone on earth.

  • How long does it take for the IUD (Birth-control) to take into affect?

I just got it today and wonder how long I should wait to have intercourseHow long does it take for the IUD (Birth-control) to take into affect?
Birth Control takes about a month, one pack, to take affect. I was told that when i went and got birth control for the first timeHow long does it take for the IUD (Birth-control) to take into affect?
This is incorrect information. An IUD is completely different from birth control pills.

With pills your birthing ability is affected through hormones while IUDs stop eggs from dropping into the uterus, meaning they can't be fertilized.

It depends on what type of IUD you get.

I have the ParaGard IUD and I LOVE it. It is hormone free. It DOES protect you from pregnancy immediately. Infact, it can even be used as an emergency contraceptive if put in place within 5 days after unprotected sex.

The Mirena IUD however, releases progestin, therefore it is recommened that you use a barrier method for one week after insertion, just like when you get on the pill.
If it's in your uterus, then you're ready to roll!!

Have fun with your new friend!

It varies with each person and depends on what type you were taking... look at the info they gave you about the pills you were taking and it should tell you on there the ';average'; time... keep in mind, however, that it could be longer or less time than that...How long does it take for your body to adjust when you stop taking birth control pills?
Since you were not on the pills for very long, you should start to regulate in a few months but it could take up to a year. I was on birth control for three years and it took almost all of two years to re-regulate my body only for me to have to go back on birth control.
Well it just depends..most times it should only take a few months. If your finding that your body has changed over time and your not noticing a difference talk to your doctor.
i takes from 2-6 months! i hope the effects didnt make you too uncomfertable and good luck! xxxx

How long does it take for birth control to work, do i have to wait weeks for it to work?

or is it effective the day that i take it?How long does it take for birth control to work, do i have to wait weeks for it to work?
Assuming you're taking a combination pill (not the mini-pill), you are theoretically covered right away IF you started the pack within a few days of your period starting. If you start mid-cycle, you probably aren't 100% for at least a week. Ditto for the mini-pill

That said, most family planning organizations do suggest that you give it at least a week before leaving off condoms or whatever b.c. you were using previously. Just in case you have a bad reaction and have to stop taking them or something else goes awry. Rather safe than sorry, you know? How long does it take for birth control to work, do i have to wait weeks for it to work?
I'm sure they told you when you got it!! You have to wait one month!!
if it's the pill, you should use a condom for the first week that you are taking it during your first pack. after that, if you take it properly (same exact time every day) you are considered to be protected from pregnancy. i forget what it was for the shot, but i'm pretty sure it was the same. your provider should have told you this when they gave you the birth control. the rule of thumb is, if you're in doubt, use a bac up method, as well as your birth control.
i would ask your doctor first, everyone reacts to prescription differently. I would think after you have taken your first pack or maybe the first week, but im not a dr.

ps prob not the first day
I would assume it is NOT effective for the first month, just to be safe (i.e., use a condom!).
No! it is not effective immediately. I have a child now because i thought that! Wait at least a week. Read the insert that came with it and it will tell you. If you do not have it call the pharmacy they can tell you.
No. You have to let it get into your system. Usually from 2 to 4 weeks. You physician will tell you depending on the strength of the pills.

What does it mean when a pilot says ';heavy'; to air traffic control when being vectored in for a landing?

Heavy just means its a wide body aircraft. Even on the ground they use HEAVY when getting moved around by ground control. It just lets them know( ground/air control) that they need more room to maneuver. It also ensures no small aircraft get placed behind them during taxiing that might get sent on a premature flight. What does it mean when a pilot says ';heavy'; to air traffic control when being vectored in for a landing?

What does it mean when a pilot says ';heavy'; to air traffic control when being vectored in for a landing?
it means Roseanne Barr is on the Plane. but seriously

Question: What does ';heavy'; mean when it is used after the flight call sign? As in ';United Airlines Flt. 107 HEAVY';?

    Answer: The term ';heavy'; alerts air traffic controllers to provide extra spacing behind very large aircraft like the DC-10, B-777, B-747, etc. These ';heavy'; aircraft generate significant ';wake turbulence,'; which is defined by the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) as ';the effect of two rotating air masses generated behind the wingtips of aircraft.';

Every aircraft, once no longer in contact with the ground and when producing lift, generates these ';wingtip vortices,'; swirling air masses trailing the aircraft which may cause some bumps (and on rare occasions, more severe control problems) to aircraft following behind too closely.

Wake turbulence generally dissipates quickly, so the controllers will allow some extra space between aircraft to allow it time to do so. A good discussion of wake turbulence appeared in the online flight journal Aerlines.

I have felt the effects of wake turbulence on several occasions during my career, as most any pilot has. It generally comes and goes quickly, either as a jolt or maybe a series of two or three jolts, and then it's over. Sometimes a minor rolling motion is felt as well, but not always.

Pilots can avoid wake turbulence by allowing greater distance behind the heavy aircraft and their own, or by delaying takeoff for a few minutes.

By the way, you generally hear the term only around airports, because wake turbulence is of concern mostly in the departure/approach environment. Once enroute, both controllers and pilots will usually drop the word ';heavy.'; Over the ocean, if we find ourselves in another aircraft's wake, we have permission to simply offset our course a few miles without getting specific permission from air traffic control. I've never had to do this but have spoken with other pilots who have done it on occasion.
    Taken from Appendix A of the FAAO 7110.65R ';Air Traffic Control';

    ';AIRCRAFT WEIGHT CLASSES

    a. Heavy. Aircraft capable of takeoff weights of more than 255,000 pounds whether or not they are operating at this weight during a particular phase of flight.

    b. Large. Aircraft of more than 41,000 pounds, maximum certificated takeoff weight, up to 255,000 pounds.

    c. Small. Aircraft of 41,000 pounds or less maximum certificated takeoff weight.';

Any aircraft that is classified as a heavy in this manual must use the word heavy when communicating with air traffic control on or near the airport, with the exception of the Boeing 757, which also must use ';heavy';. The use of the word ';heavy'; may be ommitted when an aircraft is operating within the en route envirnoment, aka ';center';.
The term ';heavy'; is attached to an aircraft's call sign if it weights over 255,000 pounds. aircraft over this weight threshold are more likely to develop strong vortexes behind them that can (and have) upset smaller aircraft in trail.

Heavy aircraft require an additional 2 miles of in-trail spacing (you must follow farther behind them) and 3 minutes of hold time on a runway before another aircraft can depart or land.
I yield to Art's hands on experience in this field, but the Pilot/Controller Glossary of appendix 3 to the AIM lays it down in hard numbers:

    Heavy: 255,000 lb or more

Large: 41,000 lb or more but less than 255, 000 lb

    Light: 41,000 lb or less

The number refers to the max certified takeoff weight regardless of the actual weight at the particular moment the pilot calls 'heavy'.

Anyone ever heard ';Commuter 123, Large';?

    Or ';Piper 1234N, Light';?
';heavy'; means he's got a load of passengers.
Heavy aircraft is large and/or creates dangerous wing tip vortices's. A real good explanation is at:

    http://www.faa.gov/ATpubs/AIM/Chap7/aim0鈥?/a>

These have been known to flip small aircraft that are too close or rip off the tail of A310's.
it means the plane is loaded with a lot of people...and unused fuel on board at the time of its contact with ATC. This means that its wing-tip vortices are likely to be more pronounced than those of a lighter weighing airlpane. In this case, the ';horizontal separation minima'; may have to be increased...briefly (more space between airplanes nearby) to allow more time for the swirling turbulent currents to dissipate.

How long do you have to take a birth control pill before it becomes effective?

i hear its a week then others say a month..How long do you have to take a birth control pill before it becomes effective?
For your period regularity to change, yes a month!!

But after the first week its in effect! Just like when u miss 2 or more days that u have to start all over again, the pharmacist will recommend u to protect urself for a whole week!!

I would wait until my period comes again, I would just not be comfortable, u also have to see how the pill will work for you!

Try protecting urself until u get ur period, to be on the safe side :)

    Good luck!!!

  • Is it easier to go with the flow or stress it with the struggles, How do you do to control your stress?

It's normal to get stressed when everything is going wrong, but isn't it easier to just go with the flow and try an work it out without the stress, I mean it feels better without the stress, but not always easy to control the stress. I sing a bit, or just act normally crazy:) I don't always win, but on the most part it does get me by:)

How do you control your stressful moments, what do you do?Is it easier to go with the flow or stress it with the struggles, How do you do to control your stress?
Every thing happens as per the will of Al-mighty God.

Leave the matter on Al-mighty,always be positive and struggle for Al-mighty then result what ever may be your conscious will remain peace full and give you courage to struggle hard to achieve your goal.God bless you.Is it easier to go with the flow or stress it with the struggles, How do you do to control your stress?
I think it's best to ';go with the flow'; by looking at the problem and finding a way to work it out, that way you feel much more proud of yourself and you can say you got through it yourself, rather than freaking out and driving yourself up the wall and failing. Singing a pretty good way of relieving stress, I agree haha! This is a cool question, thanks for posting! Hope you have a nice day.
Once when I was in a therapy group the instructor was at the board and said here you are and made a dot at the bottom and said here you are and made a dot at the top and said her is where you want to be. Now what is the best way to get there? While some said a straitht line he said, yes it would be but life isn't like that, it may not let us go that way and he started drawing a line going from one side of the board to the other until it reached the top dot. He said life may take us in different directions but as long as we keep getting closer to out goal that is all you have to worry about, keeping that goal in sight. Then he took and started drawing a straight line from the bottom to the top going through the other lines and he said if you think you can get from the bottom to the top faster you have to break the resistance of all of these lines as you go and that is how most people end up having problems themselves doing all the extra work. Kind of long here but I hope it helped.

I'm thinking of getting Mirena as a form of birth control. Has anyone ever tried it and how is it?

I'm having my second baby and want to be on birth control after I have the baby. I'm not fond of pills, shots, or patches. Saw a commercial about Mirena and thinking about getting it, but I need some more information about it from those who have tried it. Please help! Give me pros and cons :) thanks!I'm thinking of getting Mirena as a form of birth control. Has anyone ever tried it and how is it?
Well the good news is that I haven't gotten cramps with the Mirena, and my periods stopped after a month. The bad news is that I gained 40+ pounds within just a few months, despite the fact that I eat really healthy (no red meat, lots of plant matter, whole grains and fiber). I also hit the gym really hard 3-4 days a week. I run, lift weights, bike, etc, and I haven't lost a single pound. My OB swore up and down that the Mirena wasn't the cause, however, I have seen hundreds of posts on different boards from women with my exact story. ONce they got Mirena out, their weight came off. That is just my personal experience with it.I'm thinking of getting Mirena as a form of birth control. Has anyone ever tried it and how is it?
I've never used it, but I know many women that have. I believe that it's statistically the most effective form of birth control - even more effective than tubal ligation. I'll have to do some reading to make sure my stats are right, but last time I checked, that was the case.

    Here's their website: http://www.mirena-us.com/index.html?WT.s鈥?/a>

    Good luck!
i currently have the mirena in place, have had it for nearly a year now but am considering having it removed, reason for this is it has made my cycle very erratic, i will get a very heavy flow for first 5days, then goes away for two days, then back again for 3days then it has light bleeding for another 2 weeks so 3 weeks all up,very annoying.on the other hand tho for some people after having it in place for 3months there period completely stops, guess i was the unluky one lol.the plus side to having it in is once it's placed thats it for 5years,no worrying about getting pregnant.i have heard from others it can be very sore while it is being inserted tho, luky for me i had mine inserted in a hospital so was totally out to it .its definately something you should talk to your doctor or midwife about tho they will both be able to give you more info
Hey... I don't know a great deal about it but if you check out this website i am sure some of your Q's will be answered :)

    http://www.mirena-us.com/index.jsp
I have had the Mirena IUD in place for about a year and a half after having my 2nd child. It lasts for 5 years. She placed it and it didn't even hurt although I have been told by friends that theirs hurt a little bit, but only for a few seconds as it was going in. I had a regular period for about 3 months after that, then, WHAM! NO PERIOD!!! It's great! I don't have to worry about when I'm going to start or buying all those pads or tampons. The only downside I have with mine is I get terrible cramps because they say it can cause Ovarian Cysts (which should shrink after you have the IUD removed). Now, I don't know if I have them, but my guess would be that I do because I never had cramps like this before. But everyone I've ever asked say that they don't have their period and they have no signs or symptoms and it's great! Another thing you don't have to worry about is getting pregnant. No condoms, no pills to take every day, no patch to put on every week, no worries about 'accidents'. I LOVE mine!
My wife recently got one installed and this is what she has to say: I have had erratic bleeding for the 1st 2months period pains are worse and when i finally get my period it lasts for at least two weeks way longer than usual, but over all the bleeding is lighter than normal, it can make you feel quiet emotional at times with the hormone release it has, but in a few months that should have sorted it self out hopefully.

If you control the world's food, how easy is it to control the world's population?

Have you heard of Codex alimentarius? If you haven't it goes in to effect in December. I suggest you look into it.If you control the world's food, how easy is it to control the world's population?
Why would you want to do that?If you control the world's food, how easy is it to control the world's population?
It depends on the people and the location. The Soviet Union successfully starved to death millions of people in the Ukraine by taking away the food they grew on their own land.

But try that in the US and you'll be in a war that has no end against a people that will be well armed and survive on dirt if they have to.
Whether food is available or not, many people breed for cultural and economic reasons. Try and restrict food and you just increase famine and suffering.
People need food to survive so. ... I would say fairly easy. Controlling the food would be the hard part though. I'm sure Obama can handle it!

My anxiety can get really bad, how can I control it?

    Hi

I am going to uni today (Moving out of home) I am not going far only a couple of hrs away but I do get homesick easily, and anxious, my anxiety sometimes becomes very powerful and tells me that something could happen to my family and I won't be able to get in contact with them while I am away.

How can I stop this feeling so extreme and help put it in perspective when I am away at uni.

thanks xxMy anxiety can get really bad, how can I control it?
    It kind of sounds like you don't have normal anxiety, but possibly you could have OCD. Sometimes people with OCD have something called ';magical thinking';

They might worry that, for example, that, if they leave the house, it will catch on fire even though they know everything is off. Or if they touch the doorknob with the wrong hand, something bad will happen to someone they love.

Of course they know this isn't really the case but the anxiety generated by this is often so overwhelming that they give into it.

The proper treatment for OCD is cognitive behavioral therapy, often combined with medication of the SSRI class, like Prozac, or Zoloft, or of the tricyclic class like Tofranil or Anafranil.

Now I'm going to tell you something that I've told many people with OCD.

If you leave the house, yes, it could somehow catch on fire and burn down. If you touch the doorknob with the wrong hand, yes, someone you love could get hurt....purely by chance alone and not actually because you left the house or touched the doorknob with the wrong hand.

The point is,sometimes the things we fear will happen happen. That is the reality of life, unfortunately. If it's going to happen it's going to happen and usually has nothing to do with anything you did. You just need to accept that bad things happen sometimes and realize it usually isn't because of you.My anxiety can get really bad, how can I control it?
make friends --get involved with voluntary work ---hypnotherapy maybe
If you arent completely against it, you should take up smoking. Its helped control my anxiety big time
The same thing happened to me when I lived far away from my family. Every time you feel really anxious and miss them just call them. That's what I did. I'd call my mom like twice a day just to make sure everything was ok at home. After a while you'll start to feel better when you realize they're fine.
there is no way to fight it off.

just communicate with them a lot initially,

and you will get used to it

Gun Control: Does it harm inner city blacks more than it helps them?

Please let me hear your thoughts on this.Gun Control: Does it harm inner city blacks more than it helps them?
The earliest roots of gun control in this country was when British troops attempted to disarm colonialists and ';the shot that was heard around the world'; was fired. However I assume that you are referring to various states and territories that used gun contol laws to keep slaves and free blacks disarmed. Like the first poster, I have to say that I believe that it has little to no bearing on the primary issue.

Gun control doesn't help, that much is for sure. Even in places where guns are banned, there is still much gun crime and in instances such as England, gun crime has gone up after guns were banned. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that criminals prefer unarmed victims.

On the other hand, a report released from the FBI just last week claimed that fully 50% of the homicide victims in the US are black and that 93% of those doing the killing were black. I didn't see any mention about specific locations but I suspect that the bulk of it was inter cities in states that have farily strict gun control. Criminals don't care about gun laws, other than they generally make it easier for them to find unarmed targets.

But inter city crime is not caused by gun contorl any more than it is caused by the lack of gun control. I will say that no law abiding citizen should be denied the ability to defend themsleves, and for most of us, that means having ready access to a firearm, and that is espically true in high crime areas.Gun Control: Does it harm inner city blacks more than it helps them?
As I see it, early roots have little bearing on the question. Yes, gun control is a detriment to disadvantaged persons, be they black or white (or whatever). The gun grabbers' targets start with the inexpensive handguns - they have indeed put a few manufacturers out of business.

But these are frequently the most affordable to those of limited means. And despite what the morning papers lead us to believe, most inner city folks are decent, law-abiding citizens that have the absolute right to defend their families, homes, and possessions, but the gun grabbers will see to it that these are the first people to suffer. They are creating victims.

Will the effectivness of my birth control be affected if i dont take it at the same time everyday?

i have a buisy schedual. And i dont always take my birth control at the same time every day. Will i still be protected from pregnancy? Will the effectivness of my birth control be affected if i dont take it at the same time everyday?
If you take it within 2 or 3 hours it ';supposedly'; shows the same effectiveness, my doc said try to keep it within 3 hours and it has always been effective. Also my doc said to take it before right before you go to bed, it usually helps keep it within that three hour window...but honestly, occaisionally I forget mine for 7 hours (and take it in the morning) and it has still been effective but I know that is pushing it.Will the effectivness of my birth control be affected if i dont take it at the same time everyday?
You should take it roughly within 45 minutes of the time you usually take it. To be on the safe side, take it slightly earlier (not later) than the day before if you are usually forgetful. I havent had any problems, but I think they advise the same time everyday, so there is no chance of an egg being released. Try setting an alarm on your cell phone and keeping your pills close at hand, in your purse.
You're supposed to take it around the same time every day - I take mine when I brush my teeth at night so I remember. It's easiest when you associate it with an event - brushing your teeth, eating breakfast, etc. I think as long as you're within a few hours, you should be fine - but as always - ask your doc if you're not sure.

Can I take birth control on the week im supposed to have my period? Is it bad if i do?

I'm going to be going on vacation and it lands on the week im supposed to have my period, and i really dont want to be on it! Is it safe to take birth control on the week that im supposed to be on my period just that one time? Can I take birth control on the week im supposed to have my period? Is it bad if i do?
It may not be recommended with the brand of pill you are taking but a lot of women take birth control for 3 straight months with out taking the placebo pills to keep from having their periods. I would suggest just running it by your doctor to be sure it's safe with the type of pill you are taking.

Good luck and have fun!Can I take birth control on the week im supposed to have my period? Is it bad if i do?
As far as I know it's safe, I have done it before, just dont do it every month. You might spot a little bit still so bring some lightdays just in case.
I have done it before for my anniversary vacation I think it should be o.k with the pills I took the nuva ring and exacly 20 days after my trip I was in the hospital I was bleeding excessively and the clots were about 6 inches wide the pain was absolutely horrible.. it was a really messy situation..I would talk to your doctor because I only know of my situation with the nuva ring I wouldnt suggest you use that but thats my experiance
go right ahead. i took birth control for yrs. it wont harm u but, be careful about missing a dose on ur vaction.

Its to new to have wore out suspension parts. Its most likely a loose steering rack. Why is that when my ford escape hybrid 2007 bumps in a pothole it rocks and risk loosing control on steering?
Being that it is two years old, the shocks might be going. This seems somewhat unlikely as two years generally isn't long enough to ';kill'; shocks (Or struts, I don't know the car) but you always get occasional ';duds'; in any mass production. This would also make sense because if they where failing due to normal usage both sides would wear down uniformly and rather than swerving it would simply be bumpy, where as if one failed swerving might occur. Also your wheel alignment could be ever so slightly off, little enough that when normally driving it doesn't cause a noticeable problem, but under more extreme conditions (Potholes, for example) it causes problems. As for the guy who said ';Because it's a Ford'; He can go jump off a cliff. I'm a Ford guy through and through, so while I disagree I can understand his devotion to Chevy. However I agree with him in the fact that I also do not like Hybrids, if you are trying to be enviornentally friendly or save money on fuel, I suggest ethanol rather than hybrids, as ethanol is cheaper most of the time and when the corn grows to make more it absorbs the released carbon... I won't go into a rant about that now, though.
Check your ball joints or your tie rod ends. You could also check your wheel bearings. To check the tie rod ends just jack up your car then grab the tire by the side and try to move the tire to see how much play you have.To check the ball joints jack up the front then put your right hand at the bottom of the tire while your left hand is at the top.now basically rock the tire back and forth.

if you have some play your ball joint/s could be going bad.

Oh make sure you use jack stands along with the jack.
because its a ford and a hybrid.you should have got a chevrolet with a 350 and you would be smiling when you hit a pot hole because you went right through it and did not feel a thing when everyone else is slowing down and avoiding it.
Maybe be time to replace the shocks and check the steering components, tie rod ends, ball joints, ect..

also does a girl have to be a period or not be on her period to have sex?

and what is the thing about a girls eggs being ready or something?

also what is the morning after pill?

all of this i need answered. How birth control pills does a girl need for it to take effect?
    - No, it normally takes 7 days before she can have safe sex, depending on where in her cycle she takes them. - depends on the pill aswell.

    - Normally you don't really want sex when shes on her period!

    - Thats about ovulation - it doesnt really matter unless you want to get her pregnant, its just at certain times girls ae more fertile (likely to get pregnant)

    - if you have unsafe sex it makes it less likely she will fall pregnant..

You dont sound old enough for sex %26gt;.%26lt;How birth control pills does a girl need for it to take effect?
Wow...you are in over your head. Planning on getting some soon or something?

    1) Obviously

    2) No, Any type of birth control pill works best when it is taken every single day at the same time of day, regardless of whether a girl is going to have sex. This is especially important with progesterone-only pills.

For the first 7 days of taking the Pill, the girl (and you) should use an additional form of contraception, such as condoms, to prevent pregnancy. After 7 days, the Pill should work alone to prevent pregnancy. But continuing to use condoms will protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).

    3) No, it is up to the girl and guy. Women can have sex whether she is on her period or not, most just prefer to have it when they are not on their period. Less messy (blood), and less discomfort. Unless you mean, ';Does the girl have to have gotten her period in order to have sex.'; meaning her first period. Then as a father with lots of guns, I would have to answer yes to that.

    4) The morning-after pill 鈥?a form of emergency birth control 鈥?is used to prevent a woman from becoming pregnant after she has had unprotected vaginal intercourse. Plan B (brand name) is available to women 18 years and older without a prescription at most pharmacies. Women must show proof of age to purchase Plan B. For women 17 years old and younger, Plan B is available only with a doctor's prescription.
It's good you want to learn about this before having sex.

    1) She needs a prescription, can't just buy them, and it takes at least 7 days of taking them every day to become effective. Pill leaflets say different things. They need to be taken every day regardless of when she has sex.

    2) She can have sex whenever. Some girls don't want to have sex on their period, but others don't mind.

    3) The way a woman's system works is she ovulates (releases an egg) once a month and the days around that are when she can get pregnant. Girls on birth control don't ovulate.

    4) Morning after pill to be used for emergencies (e.g. condom breaking or birth control pills being missed), taken within 3 days of sex it works pretty well at preventing pregnancy but not perfectly.

    Harriet
It's best to wait until the first months cycle of pills to be compleatly effective.

You can have sex whenever you want, but it can get messy

they only release and egg at a certain time of the month, but even if you do nothave sex on that day they can still get pregnant. Sperm stays in there up to 4-5 days

The morning after pills is an emergency controceptive. It's a large does of normal birth control pill horomones. It works by supressing ovulation, meaning the girl will not release and egg. It's not abortive, if the egg is released she will get pregnant. The morning after pill shoud be taken as soon as you can after unprotected sex but can be used up to 72 hours later, decreasing in effectiveness. It should not be used as a primary means of birth control.
Birth control takes up to 60 days to take effect. So in that period of time you must use another form of contraceptive.

Does a girl need to have had started having her period? Is that the question.. and the answer to it .. in my opinion is YES. If she doesn't have the hormones of reproduction then she is apparently way to young to be engaging in intercourse.

Girls eggs are ready as soon as they start their period. That means that she can become pregnant any time after her first period.

The Morning After pill is an abortion pill. It is not always a hundred percent accurate and it can, if used to frequently, cause major reproductive and possible cancer in the female.

Though I appreciate you asking these questions, however, you apparently are a bit young and have to really think about the choice that you are making at such a young age to become sexually active. There are soo many problems besides the mental ones to starting to be sexually active at a young age, why risk yours or the female's health for it?
    Hi JON Y

A girl should wait at least 2 weeks for the pill to be functioning correctly, so other contraceptive devices are advisable until then

you can have sex with a girl if she has her period, it wont hurt anything, just might be a little messy

eggs being ready, just means ready for fertalisation she can get pregnant at this time, happens just before a period

the morning after pill (emergency contraception) is to be taken only when really needed, not to be taken as a regular contraceptive, it's most effective taken as quickly as possible after unprotected sex, up to 72 or so hours, she has to take 2 tables, within 12 hours of each other.
