Why does it seem like most men want to control women?

Are there a biological reason for this? Is there a belief that ';certain'; women want to be controlled by men?Why does it seem like most men want to control women?
I don't know whether most men want to control women, I did not notice this when I was going out with other men. However, some women do want to be controlled (I do anyway). Judging by what I read on the Internet, there are more women who are frustrated because they can't find a man willing to control them, than there are men who are frustrated because they can't find a woman to control. Why does it seem like most men want to control women?
I like Luci D's answer.

Men want to be certain that their children are really their children, so they have to exert control over their wives' actions. They start practicing this behavior when they are young and unmarried.

Of course, not all men do this, but it is a behavior that is common to the male gender throughout the ages.

Women who are brought up in a controlled environment, and who do not have many opportunities (or the education) to exert control over their own lives, may seem to wish to be controlled by men, but this is probably a matter of survival.

If the woman has children to care for, and no way of supporting herself, a controlling male figure can be thought of as a sort of security (compared to being out in the street, for instance).

People who live middle-class, well-educated lives often do not understand the choices which people, who live on the edge of survival, have to make.

If there are a thousand kinds of women, and a thousand kinds of men, then the right pairs must eventually meet up sometime, right?

Some women like being controlled, some men like controlling, there is a vast range of behaviors and traits, and as Kenny Rogers said in his song; ';There's someone for everyone';.

Don't worry about it too much, just find someone you like, and can relate with.
Well that depends on what you mean by control.

I think to be fair it is a reasonable question.

I think a lot of men do want to control their woman but also a lot of women want to control their man!

I think a lot of people in this world are control freaks full stop but culturally in the past it was expected for men to have control over their women so don't blame individual men.
It's they way they were brought up. If they were brought up in a household where the men had the utmost respect for women and never tried to control them, then the men wouldn't do that. However, if there was a negative environment where the men in the family were always controlling, then when the male children grew up, they'd have that mentality.
That is your impression and your impression only. Most men don't want to ';control'; any woman, except the weak ones. If a woman does want to be controlled - that's her issue. The truth is, most men are decent guys. Period.
i don't think it's so much of a biological thing. i think it has more to do with religious upbringing. religion, except for wicca maybe, oppresses women.
I think people like to feel guided through life, but I don't think any one wants to be controlled. It's suffocating and a sure deterrent to a healthy relationship.
Some of us women do want our men to control us.

Some women don't want that.

Some of us are somewhere in the middle.
Most men?

I don't know any of these men.
you have it all backwards
bcoz theyre so desperate, theyll be extinct soon
Isn't it the other way around?
