How long will it take to get pregnant after years of birth control?

I have been on birth control for more than 11 years. I went off for about 4 months, took a preg. test (of course it was negative) before getting back on it. So I was wondering if I went that long without protection, how long will it take to get pregnant after all this time? We plan on kids within 2 years and I'd rather not be on it- but I've settled with it.How long will it take to get pregnant after years of birth control?
Most women become fertile again within a few weeks of the last pill. This is true if they were on it for 3 months or 20 years.

A few women need a few months to start ovulating again.

Once you ARE ovulating, whether it happens immediately or needs 3-4 months, you are as fertile as you were before -- so it will probably take 3-6 months to get pregnant, but may happen immediately, or may take as much as 12-18 months. Some people can get pregnant a month or two of being off the pill. It depends on you age. The older you are the longer it could take. But after 11 years of being off BC you should be able to conceive.

If you don't conceive with in 8 months to a year of trying, then you may want to consult you doctor and have them run some tests on both you and your partner to make sure that you are healthy and can have a baby. Stay off the birth control if you really want a baby and treat your body as if it were pregnant. That means no smoking, 1 cup of coffee or tea a day, and little to no alcohol.

Good luck and lots of baby dust to you.
im not sure about 11 years, but i was on birth control for almost 6, 5 and a bit on depo vera, on a few months on the pill, its suppose to take one year after depo to get preggos. it was only a few months off depo i found out i was pregnant with my daughter and i was ON birth control. i dont think you can really say. i guess its up to ur body! good luck!
My wife an I just visited the OB/GYN and as you may have guessed, there is no set time line. You could get pregnant anywhere from a couple of days up to about a year. Either way, the main thing that factors into getting pregnant is how close to your period do you have sex. Also, it is recommended that you wait 2 period cycles before trying to conceive, to allow the uterine wall to return to normal.
it all depends on the person, and how your body reacts to the pill.

I was on the shot for 2 years and the first time i didn't get go and get the shot again i was pregnant. I think its suppose to take approxamitly 6-8 weeks to be out of your system but like i said its differant for everyone.

Hope it helps :)
I had been on bc for about 10 years then stopped taking them when my husband and I wanted a baby. I was pregnant two weeks later (so I conceived during my first ovulation after I stopped taking the pill). So, as others here stated, it varies from woman to woman.
well from experience after i finished takin the pill it took me a good year to fall pregnant and doc told me this was normal, apparently it does take a year for it to get out your system though i think it seems to be different with everyone.

best of luck!

It can happen right away or it could take 2-5 yrs. I've heard that it takes a few months for your ovaries to start ovulating again after taking oral contraceptives for a long period of time.
i was on b/c for 8 years and it took me 8 months to conceive. it varies from woman to woman.
Different for everyone, but for me I was on the pill for 16 years and after getting off it I got pregnant in 6 months.
