Why is it important to control blood sugar levels and temperature and what can be done if the systems fail?

High blood-sugar over time can lead to complications, like neuropathy, blindness, kidney failure, and death, so it is important to control blood-sugar to prevent this from happening. Temperature has very little to do with diabetes, except that fever sometimes indicates an infection, which would be more dangerous for diabetics than everyone else. Why is it important to control blood sugar levels and temperature and what can be done if the systems fail?
The reason you should control your sugar levels is basically to reduce the risks of future complications i.e eye and kidney problems, problems with peripheral nerves in your arms, hands, legs and feet etc. If you are taking insulin for your diabetes you should check your sugars regularly that way you can make any adjustment's to your dose depending on the results of your sugar level. As for your temperature, it should only alter when you if you have a fever, but one thing to look out for is that if you know how your diabetes affects you and you start to run some un-explained high sugars it could well be warning signs that you are coming down with a fever, ie. a cold or flu. when you say ';if the systems fail'; I can only assume that you mean you blood glucose meter. If it is new it shouldn't fail and it should last for a number of years, it would be wise to have a spare just in case. I hope that I have been of some help to you.
